Our story begins here...
Rhythm By Nature has been bringing people together through the power of group drumming since its inception in 2017. Based in the Columbia Valley, we drum throughout the East & West Kootenay regions and beyond.
An Important Distinction:
Rhythm By Nature follows the ‘Integrative Community Drum Circle (ICDC)’ methodology. This means that our drumming is not based on any ethnospecific traditions, cultures, or rhythms. The ICDC employs a multicultural approach so that the experience is accessible to everyone. It’s about celebrating our diversity, creativity, and playfulness.
Our drums are from all around the world but do not hold any limiting cultural or ceremonial significance. Our instruments are of premium quality and are made from 100% recycled wood fiber.
A brief history...
Patrick Carrick is the founder of Rhythm By Nature, a leading provider of interactive community drumming experiences, corporate team-building programs, school workshops, and festival activations across the Columbia Valley and Kootenay region of British Columbia.
Based in the Canadian Rockies, Patrick has spent more than a decade bringing the power of rhythm to communities, organizations, and events throughout Invermere, Radium Hot Springs, Golden, Kimberley, Cranbrook, Fernie, Nelson, Revelstoke, Banff, and surrounding mountain communities.
Patrick’s facilitation style blends music, group dynamics, and rhythm-based wellness practices to create highly engaging experiences that help participants connect, collaborate, and express themselves through drumming. His programs are designed to be inclusive, energizing, and accessible to everyone, regardless of musical experience.
Rhythm By Nature programs are regularly featured at corporate retreats, leadership events, festivals, wellness gatherings, schools, and community celebrations, where participants experience the transformative effect of collective rhythm.
Originally from Australia, Patrick discovered the profound impact of drumming at a young age and has since dedicated his life to sharing rhythm as a tool for connection, creativity, and community well-being. After traveling internationally and studying the science and facilitation of rhythm-based programs, he ultimately planted roots in the spectacular Canadian Rockies, where Rhythm By Nature continues to grow.
Patrick has pursued extensive professional development in rhythm facilitation, trauma-informed music practices, and rhythm-based wellness education, including internationally recognized training in Rhythm2Recovery and other evidence-based approaches to rhythm and emotional regulation.
Today, Patrick is recognized throughout the region as a trusted facilitator, event host, and musical community builder, bringing powerful drumming experiences to audiences of all ages across the Kootenays and Western Canada.

Rhythm by Nature now offers a range of customized services and programs in a variety of settings. From schools & youth programs, team-building & conference events, wellness retreats, and community gatherings, we have become a go-to, wow-factor experience that our clients seek out year after year.
